First scoop at Knave of Hearts

Here's a picture of where Phoenix took its first scoop of soil, in an area to the landers' north called "Knave of Hearts." This was just a test run for the robotic arm. The right-camera image used here doesn't seem to be the same as what NASA used in their anaglyph, but it's the only one for this scene currently on the raw image page.

Updated: A somewhat better right image was uploaded to NASA's site, so I've redone this page with it – better in that the tonal density was somewhat closer to the available left images. There don't seem to be any really well matched left/right pairs for this shot. Of course, there will usually be some difference due to use of varying filters on the two cameras.

The views below will pan in the direction shown by the arrows beneath them when you place the mouse over the arrows. Use the leftmost pair for cross-eyed, rightmost for parallel-eyed.

Click on a thumbnail on the right to chose a different pair, or a red-cyan anaglyph of the scene.
